Yamareco is a map application that can be used as a GPS for mountain climbing and outdoor activities.
It is the only app that can support the activities necessary for mountain climbing, from planning to submitting a mountain climbing notification, checking maps during the climb, and creating records after the climb. It
is also compatible with Wear OS smartwatches!
[Before climbing] You can easily create a plan for the mountain climbing you have planned in advance and submit a mountain climbing notification to each prefecture via the Japan Mountain Guide Association's "Compass" system. You can
download the map and route information for the mountain climbing notification you submitted before climbing.
[During climbing]
Since the map is downloaded in advance, you can check your current location with GPS even in the mountains where mobile phone signals cannot reach.
If you also enter the planned route, you can display the arrival time at the summit or trailhead based on your current walking pace. You can also easily save photos and videos during climbing.
In addition, by linking with the "Imacoco" app and website, you can safely tell your family and friends your current location in real time only while you are climbing using the "Yamareco" app!
[After climbing]
After climbing, you can contact the "Compass" system from the app to descend and tell your family that you have safely finished climbing.
You can easily publish information on the Internet by saving the photos you took and GPS logs as "mountain climbing records" on the Yamareco website.
In addition, since the information remains on the server, it can also be used as a backup in case your smartphone breaks.
[Features]
1) Maps can be used offline . You can download and use the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan's maps as "cache" for domestic use.
In addition, Yamareco's "everyone's footprints" are also displayed on top of each other, so you can see at a glance where people are actually walking (where the hiking trails are).
Of course, place name data registered in Yamareco is also included, so you can check minor mountains and passes that are not on the map.
2) Mountain climbing notification can also be submitted online . It is linked to the "Compass" system operated by the Japan Mountain Guides Association, so you can make a mountain climbing plan in the app and submit it as a mountain climbing notification to Compass.
In each prefecture affiliated with the Japan Mountain Guides Association, submitting a plan to Compass is treated as the same as submitting a mountain climbing notification.
In the event of a rescue, the mountaineering report submitted online is used, so security is higher than submitting a paper report to an unmanned mountaineering post, and a quicker response is possible in the event of an emergency.
3) Route and map can be downloaded as a set You can download not only the pre-prepared area map, but
also the route and map created in the mountaineering plan together. You can also download the route and map from other people's mountaineering records, GPX files, etc. together.
4) You can see the arrival time! The downloaded map has the standard course time, so you can easily imagine what time and where you will arrive even while climbing.
Also, if you enter the route you plan to walk, it will show you what time and minute you will arrive at each point you pass (peak, fork, trailhead, etc.) based on your current walking pace. You
can also use it as a criterion for deciding when to turn back in the mountain so that you can get down the mountain before sunset.
5) You can leave GPS logs and notes while climbing! Once you start climbing, you can leave text notes in addition to GPS logs and photos.
You can record the excitement of standing on the summit on the spot!
6) You can share your current location with your family! If you take a GPS log, your current location will be periodically saved to Yamareco, and you will be able to check your current location with Yamareco's "Now Here" function.
By accessing "Now Here" on your family's computer or smartphone, your family can check your current location at any time.

If you don't need it, you can turn off the function from the settings.
Please try using it as needed.
7) Easily record your mountain climbing! You can easily create a mountain climbing record using the photos and GPS logs you created during the climb!
When you finish climbing, a draft is automatically created, so you can create a record immediately when you have free time, such as on the train on the way back.
8) Can also be used with a smartwatch! With a smartwatch equipped with Wear OS by Google, you can easily check the map at your fingertips. You can also be aware of warnings when you deviate from the planned route, making climbing safer!
*For smartwatches with Wear OS 2.0 or later.
It has been confirmed to work with Google Pixel Watch, TicWatch Pro 5, Galaxy Watch4, and Suunto 7, but it can also be used with other smartwatches that support Wear OS 2 or later.
9) Check Yamaten's mountain weather forecast! You can check the weather forecast of "Yamaten", a weather forecast specialized for mountains, in the app.
Once you display it, you can check the weather forecast as many times as you like even when offline.
*You must log in as a Yamaten member or purchase a weather forecast plan.
[Measures to take when GPS log is interrupted]
・Open the settings app and make sure that the location information mode of the current location information is set to "High accuracy".
・If you are using a power saving/energy saving app, try excluding the Yamareco app from the power saving
settings. ・Try not to optimize the battery in the Android settings app "Battery" → "Battery optimization".
[Measures to take when you cannot obtain your current location/GPS log cannot be obtained from the beginning]
・Make sure that there is a wide view of the sky so that you can receive signals from GPS satellites.
・Make sure that your current location can be obtained using an app that can obtain the status of GPS satellites.
・If you are using an MVNO carrier such as a low-cost SIM that does not support A-GPS, it may take about 10 minutes to obtain the initial location information.
・Open the settings app and make sure that the location information mode for current location information is set to "High accuracy".
・Try turning off the location information service once and then turning it on again.
・Try restarting the smartphone itself.
Information is also summarized on the following page, so please read it.

[About the limit on the number of map downloads]
The limit on the number of map downloads is 1 for guests and 2 when logged in (free). There is no limit on the number of downloads per month.
If you delete the cache you no longer need after each mountain climb, you can download the map again for free.
If you are a member of Yamareco's premium plan (paid), you can download unlimited
maps as long as your smartphone's capacity allows. *The "Everyone's Footprints" function displays the actual path you walked, but it may include variation routes, roads that are inaccessible depending on the season, abandoned roads, etc., and we do not guarantee that the information is always accurate.
When planning a mountain climb, please be sure to collect the latest information from the Yamareco website or local related organizations before climbing.
*For prefectures that "Compass" is affiliated with, please check the Compass website below.
